Huawei has just confirmed that it is working on "an oversized" Ascend Mate smartphone, one that's positioned to be the Samsung Galaxy Note II competitor. The device has been alleged to come with a huge 6.1-inch Full HD 1080p display while running a 1.8GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM.

Spotted on Sina Weibo earlier this week are three screenshots that showed off the company's own Android UI in 1080p, pointing to allegations that Lenovo will be releasing a smartphone device with a 5.0-inch screen.
The Korean company is alleged to be unveiling a 4.99-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution and 441ppi pixel density at CES 2013.

A Japanese blog has shown Sony Mobile's rumored flagship C650 phone (codenamed Odin) spotting a 5-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. Also, the device is said to make its first official appearance at CES next year.

Some European users have reported that the multi-tasking mode is absent on their Galaxy Note II units. According to Phone Central, "international units... ship with the earlier firmware, and don't have the multiwindow option yet".

Samsung has started sending out press invites for an exclusive launch in New York on the 24th of October. The press invite showcases a picture of a stylus, which gives us plenty reason to suspect that "The Next Big Thing" is indeed the Galaxy Note II.
