Rumors are that AMD is set to produce its second generation FX CPUs based on "Piledriver" architecture. The new architecture is purported to deliver a performance boost of 15 percent over the Bulldozer-based CPUs, a 5 percent improvement over its earlier estimated performance boost.

AMD is reportedly going to launch three FX series processors in March. The top-of-the-line CPU in this lineup is AMD FX-8140 (3.2GHz, 4.1GHz Max. Turbo) that is an eight-core CPU while the other two are six-core AMD FX-6120 (3.5GHz, 4.1GHz MT) and quad-core AMD FX-4150 (3.9GHz, 4.1GHz MT).

AMD announces that it has achieved the Guinness World Record for the "Highest Frequency of a Computer Processor", by overclocking the upcoming 8-core AMD FX desktop processor.
