Intel is working on a 48-core processor for smartphones and tablets. The company's focus on this project is to find new ways to manage and use multiple cores in mobile devices. According to the project researchers, this massive multi-core CPU may be ready in five to ten years.
Linux OS creator, Linus Torvalds, has taken to social media to rant about the state of resolutions on notebooks. On Google+, Torvalds stated, "Can we please just make that [2560 x 1600] the new standard laptop resolution?"

Apple has announced that it will be pushing back the release of the new major iTunes update back a month to November.
While we haven't managed to see much of the Nexus 10 yet, Googler Romain Guy has given us some eye candy in the form of a few self-shot portraits of the flagship 10-inch tablet placed beside some print magazines.
Google introduces a new 'Compose' screen on Gmail, as well as a handful of other features including a drag-and-drop function of the recipient chips between address fields.
As of today, Google has about 700,000 apps available for Android devices.

Scott Forstall, Apple's SVP for iOS software, is leaving Apple at the end of the year. But all is not as it seems as sources are reporting that he was let go because he was stubborn, manipulative, brash and disliked by Apple's top brass.
Taiwanese TFT-LCD panel manufacturer, AU Optronics (AUO), recently showed off a 65-inch 4K (Ultra HD) LCD TV panel based on the indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) semiconducting material.
