Standard Chartered Launches Mobile Banking iPhone App

Standard Chartered Makes Mobile Banking a Breeze

The Bank’s first mobile banking iPhone application to view, move and manage finances anytime, anywhere.

Standard Chartered Bank today announced the launch of the Bank’s first iPhone mobile banking application, called Standard Chartered Breeze, a product innovation that gives customers greater ease of use and a higher degree of convenience, through an intuitive and fresh interface.

Standard Chartered Breeze is developed based on extensive consumer research and is uniquely designed to take the mobile banking industry by storm. While some organisations largely offer shoe-horned applications that are variations of their online offerings, Standard Chartered Breeze is a mobile banking application where the entire online banking platform is fully functional and operates within the iPhone application. This means that customers will have direct and easier access to their accounts.

Standard Chartered Breeze is designed with the consumers’ mobility needs in mind. Some unique features to highlight:
· World’s first E-Cheques
Customers can not only view their account balances and credit card details at anytime, they can also do transactions using the world’s first electronic cheques (E-Cheques) service – a hassle-free payment method where customers can simply enter the name and mailing address of an existing registered payee that they wish to pay. The Bank will then print and send the cheque on behalf of the customers.
· Intuitive Day/Night wallpaper
The wallpaper on the application automatically detects the time of the day and changes its wallpaper accordingly to reflect daylight, evening and night scenes.

Apart from the iPhone and online platform, Standard Chartered Breeze will soon have social media presence across Facebook, YouTube and Twitter so that customers are able to provide active inputs and feedback.

With over 19,000 downloads since its beta release three weeks ago, Standard Chartered Breeze is currently available in Singapore while an online version of the Breeze platform will be rolled out in the Asia Pacific region, starting with Singapore and Malaysia in July 2010, followed shortly by India and Hong Kong.

Standard Chartered Breeze has several distinguishing features which are centered around the following themes:

Aman Narain, Group Head of Remote Banking at Standard Chartered Bank, said,
“Today, with technology as the enabler, we can raise the bar on the service, efficiency and experience as we integrate the needs of consumers in developing relevant financial products and services for them. Also, we see the relationship between mobile and online banking solutions similar to that of the iPod and iTunes, with mobile solutions increasingly addressing on-the-go needs and consumption. The online platform will serve to support mobile banking and help to organise your finances.”

Standard Chartered has created a micro-site that includes a more detailed product description, demo and tips on how to use Breeze iPhone. More information is available at
