Sony's New Flash Memory Cards Deliver Great Performance

SINGAPORE - Sony announces the release of the Memory Stick Micro (Mark2) and the microSDHC Memory Card, Sony’s latest range of high-performance memory cards that are perfect for the discerning customer seeking a combination of performance, speed, and affordability.

The Memory Stick Micro (Mark2) is an improvement over the current Memory Stick Micro and incorporates the high-performance “HX engine” of the Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX, allowing for fast data transfer speeds that are suitable for quality video shooting. The HX engine maximises the capability of high-performance flash memory and enhances data-transfer efficiency. The HX engine is also highly reliable, with an anti-error functionality optimised by Sony hardware features such as high-speed burst shooting or HD movie shooting.

With the “Mark 2” logo, the Memory Stick Micro (Mark2) is the only M2 media currently available that guarantees HD video shooting with a minimum writing speed of 32 Mbps, and is available in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities.

Offering similarly high-speed and high-performance capabilities, the Class4 microSDHC is ideal for full HD video shooting, making it a perfect companion for Sony’s latest range of digital cameras and other popular gadgets such as smartphones and tablets. The new microSDHC memory card even comes with an additional SD adaptor for hardware that come with full-size SD slots, and is available in enlarged capacities of up to 16GB.

Customised easy-to-use software such as Memory Card File Rescue and x-Pict Story are also available for free download for both the Memory Stick Micro (Mark2) and the microSDHC Memory Card. The File Rescue software makes data recovery (including AVCHD files) fuss-free, with quick and easy retrieval of photos and movies that were deleted by mistake. x-Pict Story is a fun and easy-to-use software that allows users to create unique slideshows of their favourite pictures that can be shared with friends and family, synced to effects and music.

Both data storage devices are also perfect for users of cameras such as the new ultra slim Cybershot T-series, allowing for stable shooting of high-definition AVCHD video, as well as quick back-ups of pictures and movies to PCs.

The Memory Stick Micro (Mark2) and the microSDHC will both be available in Asia Pacific from September 2011.
