Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 to Debut at MWC 2012?

Although the Galaxy S III will not be launched at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012, it appears that Samsung has something else up its sleeves: an unannounced product named Galaxy Note 10.1

According to Slash Gear, the device appeared on Samsung's invitation to its Developer Day at MWC 2012 alongside the Galaxy Note, Wave 3 and Wave Y. The event will be focusing on the software development kits (SDKs) for the S Pen and Bada 2.0 platform.

The Verge also spotted the device being mentioned in a casting call for a "teen student" to star in a Galaxy Note 10.1 commercial. From the description of the commercial listing, the Galaxy Note 10.1 fits into the same niche market segment as the Galaxy Note which targets business users and the young generation.

The idea of a Galaxy Note 10.1 is not far-fetched as Samsung Marketing Manager Ryan Biden hinted in an interview with Laptop Magazine that consumers can expect to see the S-Pen functionality extend beyond the Galaxy Note

Laptop Magazine - "Do you see Samsung leveraging pen input on larger screen sizes as well? Bidan: Yes, I think so. I think a pen interface continues to make a lot of sense across a number of screen sizes, like the larger is more obvious of those. That’s about as specific as I can be without announcing a product."

The concept of tablets having styluses is nothing new either as we have seen them being implemented on the HTC Flyer and Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet. With Samsung being the third company to join the fray, it will be interesting to see how its implementation of the S Pen on the Galaxy Note 10.1 will turn out to be.

Samsung is also alleged to be unveiling a high resolution tablet and a Galaxy S II variant at MWC 2012. We'll be there at the event to find out what's true and what's not.
