Rumors on HTC and Samsung Vying to be Google's Next Nexus Phone

The rumor mill is on hyper drive as the date draws nearer to Q4 2011, a time frame which Google said the next iteration of the Android OS would be unveiled. The latest rumor claimed that Google is currently considering a few prototypes from HTC, LG, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. Though HTC and Samsung are in the lead at the moment, Google will most probably be choosing one to be the manufacturer for its flagship model, loaded with Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

According to Android and Me, some sources claimed that Samsung has a prototype with a dual-core 1.5 GHz OMAP 4460 chipset. This is similar to an earlier rumor that Samsung will be the manufacturer for the next Nexus because of its Super AMOLED display.

However, there are also other sources indicating that HTC stands a chance too with Qualcomm's next generation Snapdragon processor (codenamed Krait). The Krait Snapdragon processor is the first mobile system-on-a-chip (SoC) that is built on a 28nm process, which is able to do more with less power consumption.

It seems like a pretty close fight between the two companies if the rumor is to be believed. Choosing between a Super AMOLED display and a power-efficient processor really puts us in a dilemma.
