Nikon Announces New DSLR and Lenses
15 SEPTEMBER 2010, Singapore. Nikon Singapore Pte Ltd is pleased to announce the release of the following new products – 1 DSLR camera, 2 FX-format NIKKOR lenses and 1 speedlight.
Nikon D7000 and AF-S DX 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
Introducing a new line of mid-class, high specification Nikon DX-format camera, the D7000 offers an effective pixel count of 16.2- million pixels. Equipped with a new CMOS image sensor and a new image-processing engine, EXPEED 2, D7000 enables capture of high-definition images exhibiting superior image quality. It also offers a number of advanced high-performance features packed into a compact, elegant body.
As the D-SLR market expands, D-SLR users are becoming more diverse, There are users who look for the ability to capture images with greater definition and image quality, while others demand more advanced shooting functions. There are also those seeking to record movies with the rich power of expression that is only possible with SLR cameras. The D7000 is a high-quality mid- class D-SLR that will respond to user demands for a variety of the latest camera technologies and functions, enabling them the high-quality, high-definition shooting that they desire, all in a durable, high-performance, yet compact body.
Among its features are a new 2,016-pixel metering sensor, a new AF system that utilises 39 focus points, and the D-Movie function that enables recording of full HD movies. The adoption of the new Multi-CAM4800DX autofocus sensor module enables certain acquisition and tracking of the intended subject with 39 focus points. The double SD memory card slots also enable the use of two SD memory cards (SDHC, SDXC also supported).
AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II
The AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II reinforces the line- up of fast telephoto lenses for Nikon FX-format digital-SLR cameras with the latest vibration reduction function, VR II, which reduces the effects of camera shake equivalent to a four-step increase in shutter speed. The adoption of Nano Crystal Coat also effectively reduces ghost and flare. The benefits of adoption of ED lens elements which effectively compensate for chromatic aberration; an additional Super ED lens element, and the Silent Wave Motor (SWM), can be clearly seen in results achieved during shooting in dimly lit situations such as indoor sporting events or at the theatre. Nikon’s internal focusing (IF) system has been adopted for no increase in the length of the lens with focusing.
AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G
The AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G follows the AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED (released in March 2010) as a fast, f/1.4 maximum aperture fixed focal length lens for superior image quality. It offers superior rendering characteristics - excellent resolution and natural blur characteristics at the maximum aperture - possible only with the latest fast-fixed-focal-length NIKKOR lenses. Adoption of a new optical design that uses superior rendering characteristics such as Nano Crystal Coat, and compensation for various types of aberration, makes the lens perfect for landscapes, night landscapes and scenes of night skies in which characteristics such as distortion-free, sharp, and natural-rendering from infinity to close up, are a necessity. In addition, the new and improved manual focus drive mechanism reduces manual focus time lag for overwhelmingly improved manual focus operation in M/A mode. While the majority of digital-SLR cameras are equipped with a built-in flash, user creativity and expression is strictly limited as these built-in flashes are only able to light a subject from a single side and angle. While external flash units are tools for increasing creativity by maximising lighting possibilities, many users still find them difficult to use and think of it only as a way to capture images of dark or dimly scenes.
To allow users who are inexperienced with the use of external flash units to enjoy the benefits of more creative lighting, Nikon has developed the easy-to-use SB-700. The new SB-700 incorporates functions inherited from the SB-900, which has been extremely well received by professional and advanced amateur digital-SLR camera users. Smaller than the SB-600, the multi-functional SB-700 is much easier to use especially for beginners.
As a result, the SB-700 is able to respond to the wide-ranging needs of Nikon digital-SLR camera users, who not only possess a broad range of skills, but also seek to increase their individual power of expression through photographs that truly accentuate light. A new feature – quick wireless control mode enables simple control of flash output for two remote flash groups. This allows the Master flash (SB-700) to control flash output levels for flash units assigned to two remote groups, making multiple flash photography setup simple.
