More Alleged Shots and Specs of the Samsung Galaxy S III Emerged

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S III is heating up to be the most anticipated Android smartphone this year as two more alleged shots of the device leaked over the weekend.

According to Android Community, the most recent image (above) is obtained by Reddit through a Samsung employee. The employee also shared some information on the specs of the Galaxy S III which include:

  • Samsung's latest quad-core Exynos 4412 processor (clock speed unknown)
  • 2GB RAM
  • 12-megapixel camera
  • 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD screen
  • 2250mAh battery
  • Possibility of the device having two launcher options.

The most intriguing part of the trove of information provided is the possibility that Samsung will give users the freedom to choose between two launcher options - running stock Android 4.0 user interface (UI) or its own customized UI, TouchWiz running on top of Android 4.0.

Although no company has done this before, the option to switch between two UIs is certainly welcomed. It would satisfy two groups of users, one which prefers using the stock Android UI and the other who likes the additional features of a customized UI.

Another earlier image found on Reddit (above) shows off an ultra sleek Samsung Galaxy S III. Android Community claims that the image seems legit for two reasons.

One, the image appears to be taken off a presentation slide and not based on some random mock up. Second, the presentation slide sports the logo of Weber Shandwick, an American public relations company which Android Community claimed to be handling Samsung's mobile interests.

The device has a homescreen similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy Nexus: five app shortcuts at the bottom of the screen. Other features include a dedicated camera button on the side of the device, the earpiece speaker below the home button, an extremely small bezel and a display that is possibly 4.7-inch. Based on the image, the Samsung Galaxy S III is slated for an official announcement on May 22 in London.

We do not know which photo is the real deal but if the actual Samsung Galaxy S III does looks similar to either of them, Samsung is more than likely to have another winner on its hands. You can check out other rumors and reports on the Samsung Galaxy S III below:
