Microsoft's SkyDrive Upgraded
Microsoft has decided to bring SkyDrive into modern times by upgrading it to provide "cloud access and sharing built for the modern web using HTML5”. The new features include a major face-lift and a new interface. Seeing that SkyDrive was last revamped way back in 2007, it's about time that the world's major OS provider brings its cloud service up to scratch.
itwire.com - SkyDrive takes advantage of IE9’s feature-set, something that should surely come as no surprise to anyone. Via IE9, SkyDrive delivers “hardware accelerated graphics, modern HTML and Windows through IE 9 features like pinned sites”.
Microsoft says its Drive in the Sky “is focused on delivering anywhere access and sharing by seamlessly integrating cloud storage with popular applications and devices”. Naturally, “this includes apps like Microsoft Office 2010 and Windows Live Photo Gallery for Windows, Office 2011 for Mac, OneNote for the iPhone”.
The new SkyDrive will also work in tandem with Office Web Apps and Hotmail, as well as Windows Phone devices. The full story can be found here.
