Microsoft's IIS is Losing Ground and its Market Share Slides to 1997 Levels
The most widely used web server on the Internet since the early days of the Web has been Apache and it still has not lost that honor. In second place, is Microsoft’s Internet Information Server, IIS; however, it is now losing ground.
It seems that open source projects are becoming more popular since IIS runs exclusively on servers with Windows operating systems, limiting its reach. Is this is a sign of the renaissance of open source projects or just the effects of knee-jerk cost cutting measures in lean times? This remains to be seen in the coming years.
