LG's Latest Blu-ray Player Offers Limitless Content via Wi-Fi

BD570 more than a Blu-ray player; provides convenient access to entertainment from web or home network

Singapore, 8 March 2010 - LG Electronics (LG) today announced the availability of the BD570, a Wi-Fi equipped Blu-ray player in Singapore.

LG’s BD570 is no ordinary Blu-ray player. The new model’s built-in Wi-Fi allows connectivity to the internet or a home network to bring a wider variety of entertainment options to the living room.

“People should not be restricted to watching movies that come on discs,” said Simon Kang, CEO and President of LG Home Entertainment Company. “They should have access to limitless content through the internet. We included connectivity on the BD570 that allows it to bring an incredible array of audio, video and other entertainment to their TVs.”

Wireless internet access allows the BD570 to show videos from YouTube or photos from a Picasa Web Album, taking them off of a small computer screen and putting them onto a large HD TV. To make regular Blu-ray discs even better, the BD570 unlocks additional movie-related content from the web with BD-Live 2.0. This highly-connected Blu-ray player also provides convenient access to information like local and global weather forecasts from Accuweather. Other services vary by country, but all are easily accessed through the BD570’s intuitive interface.

Many families have already accumulated substantial digital media libraries filled with music, movies, home videos and more. The BD570 connects via Wi-Fi to the computers on a home network or DNLA (Digital Living Network Alliance) - compatible storage devices. It can also be connected directly to external USB hard drives or thumb drives to play HD quality DivX and MKV movies.

The BD570 connects to most TVs with a single HDMI cable, ensuring viewers the highest possible picture quality with both Blu-ray discs and regular DVDs, which it upconverts to 1080p resolution.

The BD570 is now available at all major consumer electronics outlets in Singapore at a recommended retail price of S$699/-.
