LG Introduces Nano Full LED LW9800 HDTVs
The HDTV scene has been dominated by the LED variant ever since its arrival. Gradually, full-array backlights were dropped in favor for edge-mounted alternatives due to higher manufacturing costs and bulkier profiles involving the former. More recently, it appears LG is attempting to revive the full-array (or direct) LED breed with its unveiling of the LW9800 series featuring their new NANO FULL LED technology.
TechzTalk - LG today introduced its top-of-the-line HDTV LW980S (LW9800 in US) featuring CINEMA 3D technology, Smart TV functions and NANO FULL LED backlit. "The LW980S is the crown jewel of TVs as it includes the most advanced technologies and features we've developed at LG over the years," said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. "We've set a new benchmark in connectivity, picture quality and sheer viewing enjoyment."
Set in 47 and 55 inches, the sleek LW980S model will offer direct LED benefits such as local dimming from as many as 2,300 dedicated light sources. The LW980S also boasts of LG's 400Hz TruMotion frame interpolation technology with scanning backlights. There's no official word on its pricing or launch date, although LG did mention that the Cinema 3D TV will be featured at the upcoming IFA trade show held in September. More on this story here.
