LG Unveiling 55-inch OLED TV at CES 2012
LG is definitely going all out at this year's Consumer Electronics Show. Besides its massive 84-inch ultra definition 3D TV, the Korean company will also be unveilng its 55-inch OLED TV. Touted as the world's largest OLED TV, the 55-inch display weighs in at 7.5kg and has a 4mm thin profile.
LG's OLED TV will sport a 4-Color Pixels and Color Refiner that supposedly generates sharp and consistent colors that are natural and accurate. In comparison to the RGB setup on other OLED TVs, LG uses a fourth white color with its 4-Color Pixels feature, thus giving rise to a more accurate color depiction. Its Color Refiner utilizes an LG algorithm that improves and refines hues and tones, even when the TV is viewed from a wide viewing angle.
According to LG USA's Tim Alessi, director of new product development, consumers can expect the 55-inch OLED TV to go on sale sometime in the fourth quarter of 2012. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but we figure it'll be a hefty sum. Hopefully, we're wrong on this account.
