Intel Announces 3rd Gen SSD

Intel Announces 3rd Gen SSD

It has arrived later than expected, but Intel third-gen SSD, the 320 series, is finally here. Compared to the previous generation's 34nm NAND Flash memory, the new arrivals use 25nm NAND Flash memory, but they are similarly targeted at the mainstream segment and are still on the SATA 3Gbps interface.

PC Magazine - The 320 Series drives are based on 25nm NAND Flash memory process Intel and Micron announced last year, and run over 3-Gbps SATA connections. The drives are available in a number of capacities ranging from 40GB to 160GB, and 300GB and 600GB models are also available. Intel boasts that the new drives are more reliable, and offer price reductions of up to 30 percent compared to the X-25M drives.
