IE9 Beta Now Available for Public Download

With a dramatic user interface redesign, a new engine that takes advantage of your graphics processor to boost performance and support for HTML5, the latest version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser has been released and it certainly looks like a modern, viable competitor to Google's Chrome and Mozilla's Firefox. It's more 'Chrome' in its aesthetics while promising some of Microsoft's own unique touches, like Jumplists.

AP - SEATTLE — Microsoft Corp. unveiled the "beta" test version of Internet Explorer 9 on Wednesday, the first of a new generation of Web browser programs that tap into the powerful processors on board newer computers to make websites load and run faster. IE9, which is free, also arrives with a more minimalist look and a few new tricks that start to blur the distinction between a website and a traditional desktop application.
