HTC Rolling Out WP8 Devices in Third Week of Sep? (Update)

*Update: WPDang is reporting that HTC will be launching new Windows Phone 8 devices in the third week of September.

During the Windows Phone Summit, it was mentioned that HTC, Huawei, Nokia and Samsung were the four hardware partners that guaranteed their support for the upcoming Windows Phone 8. Little did we know that one of the partners, HTC, has already made plans for a launch of three Windows Phone 8 devices sometime in Q4.

The Verge obtained these information from a trusted source who claimed that HTC has three devices codenamed Zenith, Accord and Rio in the pipeline. The Zenith is said to be the flagship model as it will sport a 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 display of 720p resolution, an 8-megapixel camera and a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor.

Right in the midrange segment is the Accord, which will come with a 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 display of 720p resolution, an 8-megapixel camera, 1GB RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260A dual-core processor. Last but not least, the entry level Rio will be equipped with a decent 4.0-inch display of 800 x 480 pixels resolution, a 5-megapixel camera with 720p video recording, 512MB RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8227 dual-core processor.

This coincides with an earlier report by Engadget that the first wave of Windows Phone 8 devices will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus processors. All three devices are expected to be shipped by the end of this year, with the Rio and Accord coming in October and the Zenith arriving sometime in Q4.

Several other phone makers are expected to unveil Windows Phone 8 devices as well. Nokia is alleged to announce two Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices at the upcoming Nokia World 2012 on 5th September. Samsung is working towards a release of two dual-core Windows Phone 8 devices in Q4 and Huawei is also rumored to launch its Windows Phone device in the same period. The company's chief marketing officer told a CCSI analyst that the device will be unveiled as the Huawei Ascend W1 and will be available globally in Q1 2013.
