HTC Considering Buying A Mobile Operating System
HTC is considering purchasing a mobile operating system (OS) and has discussed internally on the issue but is in no rush to make any decision.
According to TNW Mobile, HTC's chairwoman Cher Wang revealed to reporters in China that the company will take its time to consider before making any purchase. Wang also stated that HTC's strength lies in making products that can run on different platforms.
TNW Mobile - “We can use any OS we want. We are able to make things different from our rivals on the second or third layer of a platform,” Wang said. “Our strength lies in understanding an OS, but it does not mean that we have to produce an OS.”
HTC's decision to acquire a mobile OS is bound to fuel further speculation that Android vendors are feeling anxious over Google's recent acquisition of Motorola Mobility. While Samsung has made it clear that it will never buy webOS, HTC has opted to keep all options open on the table.
