First Impressions of HTC Sense 4.0 Posted

PocketNow recently checked out a non-final build of HTC Sense 4.0 which is reported to be unveiled together with a list of rumored devices at next month's Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012.

According to PocketNow, Sense 4.0 will sport a number of changes and improvements in its user interface (UI) such as the lock screen, browser, camera and task switcher. Dropbox and Beats Audio also will be standard features of Sense 4.0.

One of the new features of the new UI is its support for landscape on the home screen. With a focus on better typography and reducing visual clutter, the landscape orientation mode will shift the menu icons and buttons to the right, instead of the bottom to maximize real screen estate for viewing content.

Its lock screen will also see new functionality such as an enhanced notification system where the user can access the notification panel without unlocking the device. Moreover, the lock screen can display a task list or a list of your favorite contacts for easier access.

The Sense UI has always been a key factor in helping the company differentiate its phones from its competitors. Faced with stiffening competition in the smartphone market, Sense 4.0 may become a more valuable tool for HTC in its fight to regain lost grounds.
