Dell's Alienware X51 Slim Desktop Brings Immersive HD Gaming

Dell's Alienware X51 Desktop Brings Immersive HD Gaming

Dell flaunts its smallest gaming desktop ever - the Alienware X51.

Delivering a 1080p HD and 3D gaming experience, the Alienware X51 comes with a dual-orientation chassis supporting 7.1 surround-sound audio and an optional Blu-ray disc drive.

Featuring Intel Core processors, NVIDIA GeForce GT or optional GTX class graphics cards, the desktop's sleek matte black finish with dark chrome accents and three customizable lightning zones managed by AlienFX software. At its entry-level configuration with a Core i3 processor, 4GB memory, 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 545 graphics and a 1TB 7200 rpm hard drive, the raw power of the X51 yields an average 34 fps in Battlefield 3 at high settings and a resolution of 1080p.

To be honest, we really didn't expect Dell to market these multimedia-class machines as gaming capable desktops with these tepid specifications. We only hope consumers won't be confused and have mismatched expectations from the branding and positioning of these new machines.

The Alienware X51 is available with a starting price of S$1,328 for the Intel Core i5 processor option. The Intel Core i3 processor option is only offered via Dell resellers and non-online distributors.
