The new models also include the PowerShot A3300 IS, A3200IS, A2200 and A1200

The two key models – IXUS 310 HS and PowerShot SX 230 HS were developed with the utmost focus on performance and quality, boasting of features such as Canon’s High-Sensitivity (HS) System, full high-definition (HD) video recording. For the first time ever, the PowerShot SX 230 HS will also include GPS functionalities. The entry level compact cameras champion artistic photography with fun and useful features while providing the excellent image quality that the Canon brand is synonymous with.

The IXUS range: A perfect combination of style & substance

The latest addition to Canon’s IXUS range is the IXUS 310 HS, IXUS 220 HS and IXUS 115 HS. The IXUS is the embodiment of Canon’s focus on merging superior high-performance technology with an eye-catching and sleek form factor. All three new models come with the latest Canon HS System which allows sharp and stunning photos to be taken under challenging low light conditions. They also feature a 12.1 High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor and wide angle lenses (24mm for both the IXUS 310 HS and 220 HS and 28mm for the IXUS 115 HS), allowing the capture of sharper and brighter images.

Leading the pack is the IXUS 310 HS, the successor to the popular IXUS 300 HS, with its F2.0 wide aperture which enables faster shutter speed to prevent camera shake, while blurring the background to make the subject stand out. Additional modes such as Aperture Prority (Av) and Shutter Priority (Tv) have been added to the IXUS 310 HS. These modes provide the user with greater control over their shots. Consumers will also be impressed with the stylish design of the IXUS 220 HS, which is the world’s slimmest compact camera with 5x zoom.

Zooming in on excellence: The PowerShot SX 230 HS

Known for their long zoom capabilities, the compact PowerShot SX series now includes the new PowerShot SX230 HS. The PowerShot SX 230 HS boasts a telephoto lens of 14x optical zoom, thus providing users a focal range of 28mm to 392mm, making them ideal for either close-ups or wide shots. For the first time ever in a Canon camera, the PowerShot SX230 HS comes with a built-in Global Positioning System (GPS) feature with geo-tagging that allows users to easily tag and identify photographs from anywhere in the world. For the first time in the PowerShot SX series, the SX230HS features the Canon HS System, allowing for sharp and stunning photos to be taken under challenging light conditions.

Live View Control is another useful feature in these new models, providing beginners with user-friendly terms for altering brightness, vividness and colour tone within the camera, making it easy to alter the look and feel of an image.
