BBC Makes Doctor Who Available on Facebook
While Google and Youtube might have gotten the jump on Facebook when they introduced the option to rent titles and movies, the social networking site is now fighting back. It seems that BBC has jumped on board to provide the option to rent the timeless Doctor Who series.
BBC.com - In a new venture for BBC Worldwide, the BBC’s commercial arm will tomorrow offer a series of digitally remastered Doctor Who stories to rent via Facebook. By using Facebook credits, users visiting the official Doctor Who page will be able to stream a selection of nine stories (each containing several episodes) from the history of the Time Lord, including digitally remastered classics such as 'Tomb of the Cybermen' as well as modern day favourites 'Silence in the Library' and 'End of the World'. 'The Greatest Show in the Galaxy' will be a Facebook exclusive, having never been released on DVD.
For now the episodes are only available in Europe, United States, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. But you can be sure that the service will be extended worldwide. Episodes, once rented will be available for viewing for a time period of 48 hours. BBC made the announcement in a press release on their website and if you want more information on the story you can access it here.
