Apple iCloud and iOS 5 Now Available

If you've been waiting for Apple's iCloud service to go live, it's time to get started by visiting https://www.icloud.com/

iCloud is Apple's answer to an online storage solution for its wide portfolio that ranges from its mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPod and iPad, to its Macbooks, iMacs. More importantly, iCloud makes it quick and effortless to access your music, apps, latest photos, and more from whichever device you happen to be using. And it keeps your email, contacts, and calendars up to date across all your devices.

With 5GB of storage given free to all users with a valid Apple ID, iCloud is one of the new features that runs alongside Apple's new iOS 5 operating system for its iPhone, iPod and iPad. iOS 5 will be preloaded onto Apple's new iPhone 4S, and is also available as an update for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, third and fourth generation iPods and the iPad 1 and 2. Do note that the update requires you to have the latest iTunes (version 10.5) installed on your Mac OS X or PC before you can proceed.

Meanwhile, Mac users should have received a prompt for the latest Mac OS X Lion v10.7.2 update, which includes an iCloud option within System Preference. If you haven't done so, click the Apple icon at the top left of your screen and choose Software Update to get your latest update for Lion.

And if you're linking your devices with a Windows PC, iCloud is also available on the Microsoft platform. However, before you can enjoy iCloud on your PC, you'll need to install the iCloud Control Panel, which can be downloaded here.
