While the XFX could be churning underneath with impressively high clock speeds, you won't be able to tell from its standard issue exterior, which is typical for a GeForce 8800 GTS. The red decal does help it stand out from a crowded field but the cooler itself is the two-slot reference design from NVIDIA. This large cooler does an admirable job of keeping the noise level decently low though the temperatures will probably be correspondingly higher due to the overclocking.

As mentioned earlier, XFX has really gone wild with the clock speeds, as this GeForce 8800 GTS sports the highest clocks we have seen. The core clock is at 650MHz, with the memory also higher than usual at 2000MHz DDR. What's even more telling is the fact that XFX has also pushed the shaders clocks (aka the stream processors) to a daring 1600MHz from its default 1200MHz. Such increases in clock speeds will no doubt help this XFX set new records for a GeForce 8800 GTS. Besides its extremely aggressive clocks, there is nothing out of the ordinary for this XFX card. The 320MB memory size may be a liability for higher resolutions and certain, more demanding applications but the average hardcore gamer should be satisfied with that.

XFX seems to have spent its entire budget for its bundle on the award winning Company of Heroes game included with this GeForce 8800 GTS. For there are only a couple of accessories and cables in our box, like the single DVI-to-VGA adaptor and S-Video extension cable we found. Although the game is certainly a notch better than many other titles, we would have appreciated having the full complement of cables and accessories that one usually gets with the GeForce 8800 GTS. In case you're thinking we missed something, here is the entire list of items:

  • 1 x DVI-to-VGA adaptor
  • S-Video extension cable
  • Quick Installation guide
  • Quick User's guide
  • Driver CD
  • Company of Heroes
