With the dust settling somewhat after the flurry of ATI-related articles following the launch of its latest and leading graphics chipset, the Radeon X1900 series, which is incidentally an incremental upgrade to the short-lived Radeon X1800, we should see a brief period of relative calm in the discrete graphics scene. True, we have had the introduction of other graphics cards, like the GeForce 7800 GS for the AGP and the low-end 7300 series but for most enthusiasts, these lesser GPUs are not the main attractions. What they keenly look forward to are the heavyweight bouts when the performance flagships of the two rivals clash head to head.

In which case, according to the rumors, they would then have to wait till March at the earliest for a possible glimpse of NVIDIA's next high-end GPU - the G71. This upgrade to the G70 core is expected to be featured in the upcoming GeForce 7900 series and no doubt NVIDIA hopes that this graphics processor will secure the graphics performance crown currently held by ATI.

That champion from ATI is the Radeon X1900 XTX 512MB graphics card, which we have seen to be a very fast card indeed, though perhaps not exactly the best value for money. Its slight performance edge over the Radeon X1900 XT was exacerbated by the extra US$100 slapped on its launch price over the XT. Nevertheless, there are those who do not mind paying for the best and in this calm before the storm, it is as good a time as any to check out another retail Radeon X1900 XTX 512MB. This is none other than the MSI-RX1900XTX-VT2D512E, one of the more popular brands in the business. Here is a quick technical overview of MSI's Radeon X1900 XTX 512MB:-
