The MSI NX7800GS-TD256

As can be expected of early graphics card batches from vendors, make no mistake that MSI's GeForce 7800 GS is an exact replica of the reference card (with the addition of the MSI decal on fan unit of course). Time is money and the earlier a vendor makes their presence felt with the right bundle and price, the better the customer's first impression is. Does this mean every other GeForce 7800 GS you encounter now would be a clone of one another? From initial reports, various vendors have clocked their cards differently and although MSI's NX7800GS-TD256 defaults to the reference 375/1200MHz, MSI engineers must have worked overtime as they have qualified it to even offer their Dynamic Overclocking Technology (D.O.T). Needless to say, we've some D.O.T performance numbers for you to crunch on, but more on that later.

So much for the card itself, but what about the package contents you ask? Fear not as MSI had overhauled part of it, most importantly the game bundle, to bring you the blockbuster King Kong PC game. Most of the other important bundle elements were intact as well, but the Molex power cable splitter seemed to have been missed out for some reason in our package. We hope the retail versions would have that covered. Here are the rest of the items in the package:-

  • 1 x DVI-to-VGA adaptor
  • S-Video extension cable
  • 9-pin mini-DIN to S/Video & Component dongle
  • Quick Users Guide
  • Quick Installation Guide
  • MSI Utilities and Driver CD
  • CyberLink DVD Solution (PowerCinema & Power2Go)
  • Peter Jackson's King Kong (full game)
