And the Double Winner Goes to …
With the thousands of products on showcase at the annual Macworld and CES shows, it really takes an outstanding product to be given a nomination let alone two. Which only makes the iFrogz Audiowrapz more amazing: it was the only iPod nano case to win the "Best of Show" award from the panel of critics at these two separate shows.
Dive Into the Case
Made out of 100% silicone, the Audiowrapz provides a degree of protection for your iPod nano from the elements. Simply slide in the iPod nano into the speaker case and you get a protective case with an integrated speaker all wrapped up into one. The sound that is heard over the three metallic grilles sitting at the bottom of the case cannot be compared to higher-end external speakers but if you are looking for a speaker case that produces decent sound quality good enough for casual listening, you can't go wrong with the Audiowrapz. Though it is first and foremost an alternative for your headphones, a 3.5mm audio jack is still available at the bottom of the case to utilize your own earphones at your own convenience.
Operating without batteries of its own, the Audiowrapz instead taps the power of your iPod nano. Thankfully, our tests showed little to no compromise on the player's battery life and that definitely gives the Audiowrapz a lot of brownie points. A downer is that you can't charge your iPod while inside the case, thus you'll need to extract the iPod nano to charge. Nonetheless, it takes little effort to extract the player in and out of the Audiowrapz. While scrolling through our playlist, we realized that the Audiowrapz somewhat interferes with the outer rim of the navigational wheel, making it rather cumbersome to swivel using the wheel.
Wrapz it Up
Available in a multitude of colors including hot pink, green and red, Audiowrapz is currently designed for the 3rd generation iPod nano and is retailing at S$49. Audiowrapz will soon be available for the iPod Classic as well.
