In view of this possible upswing, Sony has decidedly made this a good time to unveil some of their business projectors that would hopefully capture the attention of the corporate bigwigs who are looking to upgrade their boardroom. Amongst the slew of projectors that were unveiled earlier on, Sony has highlighted three categories that cater to the business, education and the budget savvy consumer.

To start the ball rolling, we were introduced to the flagship model, the Sony VPL-MX20 Mobile Projector. It utilizes the 3LCD projection system that, as you might have guessed uses three LCD chips (one for each primary color). The MX20 is capable of projecting up to 2500 lumens in brightness at XGA (1024 x 768) resolutions. The highlight to the MX20 would probably be in the form of its stylish and slim design with a slim profile of just 45mm. Furthermore, it weighs in at a mere 1.7kg, and whilst it probably won't be as mobile as a cell phone sized projector, it does get the job done even better, with less hassle.

The MX20 also comes with an Advanced Intelligent Auto Setup that automatically tilts the MX20 to the appropriate level for projection. Furthermore, it also comes with a built-in Auto Focus module that saves you the trouble of getting the desired sharpness, plus, it actually selects the appropriate resolution according to your projected image's screen size. Size is not an issue here as the MX20 also comes with a short focal-length lens that projects images as close as 2.4m for an 80-inch display.

In terms of availability, there's still no confirmed time frame revealed by Sony yet, though the estimated pricing for this flagship mobile model would place it beyond the S$2000 range.

Sony VLP-MX20 Key Features

Projection system:

3LCD System

Single lens projection system

Brightness output:

Up to 2500 lumens

Resolution:

XGA (1024 x 768)

Throwing distance:

30-inch - Approx. 0.86 to 0.99m

40-inch - Approx. 1.2 to 1.3m

60-inch - Approx. 1.8 to 2.0m

80-inch - Approx. 2.4 to 2.7m

100-inch - Approx. 3.0 to 3.4m

120-inch - Approx. 3.6 to 4.1m

150-inch - Approx. 4.5 to 5.1m

Features:

Advanced Intelligent Auto Setup

Off & Go, as fast as 5 seconds

Dimensions:

273 x 45 x 206mm

Weight

Approx. 1.7kg

‹ Prev

<fieldset style="display:none;"></fieldset> Sony VPL-MX Series - Mobility First Sony VPL-E Series- Education and Business Sony VPL-D Series - For the Budget Desktop

Next ›

 // window.addEvent ('domready', function () { var container = document.getElement ('#product-review'), content = container && container.getElement ('.content'), pagination = container && container.getElement ('.pagination'), form = pagination && pagination.getElement ('form'), menu = form && form.getElement ('.page-selector'), links = { prev: pagination && pagination.getElement ('.prev a'), next: pagination && pagination.getElement ('.next a') }, page = -1, desc = 'Page {curPage} of {lastPage}' ; // Tag as Javascript-enabled pagination.addClass ('js'); menu.addEvent ('change', function (e) { var curPage = this.selectedIndex + 1, lastPage = this.length, url = this.get ('value'), pageContent = container && container.getElement ('.page') ; // Disable controls menu.set ('disabled', 'disabled').blur (); if (pageContent) pageContent.setStyle ('opacity', .5); new Request.HTML ({ 'url': url, 'method': 'get', 'link': 'cancel', 'update': content, 'onSuccess': function () { // Update controls menu.erase ('disabled'); links.prev .set ('href', menu.getChildren ('option')[(curPage > 1)? curPage - 2: curPage - 1].get ('value')) [(curPage > 1)?
