Strong Tablet and Expected Ultrabook Demand Boost Adata SSD Sales

According to Taiwanese IT news portal Digitimes, Adata, a Taiwanese memory module manufacturer has reported strong SSD sales which it credited to rising demand for tablet personal computers. The company also mentioned the "influx of short lead-time orders coming from the Ultrabook sector" which contributed to their SSD sales as well.

Adata revealed that 68.74% of its November revenue came from the sales of NAND flash, and other non-DRAM module products, both of which are due to strong SSD sales. Adata also added that SSD sales in 2011 "far exceed those generated in all of 2010", and that "rising SSD sales will buoy its gross margin performance".

This is encouraging news for consumers who are waiting for SSD prices to drop due to the "economies of scale" principle. Meanwhile, when SSD prices drop, prices of devices (Ultrabooks) that utilize these expensive components may soon follow suit.
