Rumors of Nikon Competitor Against Canon G11
Canon has been somewhat dominating the compact camera market recently, with great offerings such as the Canon Powershot S90 and G11 under the prosumer range. But it seems like Nikon isn't going to take this lying down. According toe a Nikon UK's senior product manager, Kevin Egan, the company is looking to develop a Coolpix camera to pit against the G11's functionality.
Engadget - Well, here's something you don't hear everyday -- a Nikon exec saying that Canon's PowerShot G11 is the "benchmark" against which other compact cameras are measured. According to Nikon UK's senior product manager Kevin Egan, however, that may not be the case for much longer, as he says that Nikon is now developing a new Coolpix model that will give the G11 a run for its money. That word comes from an interview in the latest issue of Amateur.
Striking a fine balance between aesthetics and performance should be the focus for the upcoming Nikon prosumer camera. For now, there's still no concrete information yet, but we'll be sure to keep a lookout for more news of this new Nikon prosumer camera. In the meantime, check out the full story here.
