NVIDIA's MWC 2012 Press Invite Hints at Quad-Core Smartphone

Tablets powered by NVIDIA's quad-core Tegra 3 processor such as the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime are just the first of many more quad-core tablets to come in 2012. But NVIDIA has bigger plans beyond the tablet space, and judging from its press invite for Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012, tablets won't be the only devices linked to Tegra 3.
The press invite that was sent out to attendees of MWC 2012 got a sneak peek at what NVIDIA might be showing at the mobile industry's biggest show of the year. Stating that it will be continuing NVIDIA quad-core firsts at MWC at an exclusive event, what you should be paying attention to is not the woman waving his arms in the air. Right beside her, you'll notice a guy who's more enthralled by the smartphone in his hand than the woman, or even the roller coaster ride.
From all perspectives, we should be looking at the first quad-core smartphone being unveiled at MWC 2012. However, this won't be the first time we spotted a Tegra 3 smartphone. At CES 2012, Fujitsu's booth had a working unit powered by the quad-core processor, though we only had some eyes-on time with it since the unit was locked up tight in a clear display. Meanwhile, a rumored LG smartphone loaded with Tegra 3 was leaked earlier on, accompanied by hardware specifications such as a 4.7-inch 720p display and a massive 2000mAh battery to handle the quad-core processor.
Regardless, we should be getting some hands-on time with quad-core devices, be it tablets or smartphones at this year's MWC. For a quick round-up of what you can expect at the annual trade show, check out our growing list of MWC 2012 related news.
