New Keyboard App Fleksy Guarantees Accurate Blind Typing
Looks like damnyouautocorrect.com could be going out of business soon, if new keyboard app Fleksy has anything to say about it. Fleksy is an alternative keyboard app that promises to be so accurate that even blind users can compose texts quickly and accurately. According to Mashable, users can even choose not to have the keyboard visible while typing. We haven't had a chance to try the app, but it seems as though it uses an extremely aggressive and powerful autocorrect system that converts gibberish caused by rapid typing, into the actual words you want to type. The app is developed by a newly launched start-up called Syntellia, and it debuted at CES 2013.
Other apps like Android's SwiftKey and iPhone's VoiceOver mode speed up touchscreen typing, but Ioannis Verdelis, Syntellia's founder says Fleksy's users can type as quickly as they do on a laptop. Instead of asking users to learn something new, the "flexible system" adjusts to familiar habits. "Rather than looking specially at what buttons the users press, the way other systems do, we designed technology from the ground up specifically for touchscreens," Verdelis tells Mashable. "It analyzes patterns, the context of what you're writing, and looks at the structure of the English language to make predictions."
The app is now available for download in Apple's App Store, but Android users have to wait a while longer before it's available on the Google Play Store. However, if you're an impatient Android phone owner, you can always sign up for the Beta test at Fleksy.com
