Motorola and Intel to Release Medfield-Powered Android Phone on 18 September?

September is shaping to be a month of exciting launches as Motorola and Intel join the party with one event on 18^th September in London. While the invite does not state anything other than the words "Let us take you to the edge", we are placing our bets on an Android phone powered by Intel's Medfield processor.

Earlier this year at CES 2012, both companies made a joint announcement on a multi-year, multi-device strategic relationship. As part of the collaboration, Motorola promised to ship Intel-powered smartphones and tablets in the second half of 2012. 

Weeks before Mobile World Congress 2012, Pocketnow obtained a leaked image of an unnamed Motorola phone which is said to be among the first of a series of devices powered by Intel's Medfield processor.

Intel is also working very closely with Google on optimizing its processors to run on the Android platform. In fact, Mike Bell, Intel's Vice President of Ultra Mobility claimed that his company has the hardware to make Android "really shine".

Well, we can't wait to see what Motorola and Intel have to offer, especially when the other phone vendors such as Apple and Nokia have their respective launch events lined up in the early part of September.
