Minecraft Creator Not Intending to Validate Game for Windows 8

Too cool for Windows 8? Minecraft game creator Markus "Notch" Persson tweeted that he is not interested in certifying the game for Windows 8. He declined Microsoft's request for Windows 8 certification and he even hit out at the Redmond company by saying he would forgo Windows 8 than to play along.

SlashGear reported that according to tweets from Minecraft creator and game developer Markus “Notch” Persson, Microsoft emailed him and asked for Windows 8 certification for the game. Mr. Persson declined and told off the Redmond software company instead by imploring them " stop trying to ruin the PC as an open platform.". He also tweeted that he would rather forgo support for Windows 8 so that he can convince some people to not upgrade to Windows 8.

His negative opinion isn't a lone voice from the gaming community heavyweights. A couple of months ago, Valve's Gabe Newell condemned Microsoft's upcoming Windows 8 OS as "a catastrophe for everyone in the PC space." while speaking at the Casual Connect video game conference in Seattle. He said that some of the top tier PC/OEMs will exit the market and profits margins will be destroyed for a lot of people.

Windows 8 will be generally available to users in October and devices running Windows 8 are expected late that very month. Just last week, Intel announced  a slew of such devices as well as the details of its new dual-core, 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z2760 processor.
