Lenovo Looking to Acquire RIM?

With practically all hopes pinned on its upcoming BlackBerry 10 devices, which coincidentally will be released next week, RIM still remains a business waddling in troubled water. With its platform on the decline, how else can it revitalize its business? One way is of course, to sell off its hardware division or lease software solutions. Timely enough, Lenovo has commented that it is currently "assessing potential acquisition targets and strategic alliances", including one with RIM as part of a strategy to boost its mobile device business.

Bloomberg -“We are looking at all opportunities -- RIM and many others,” Chief Financial Officer Wong Wai Ming said yesterday in an interview at the World Economic Forum’s meeting in Davos, Switzerland. “We’ll have no hesitation if the right opportunity comes along that could benefit us and shareholders.”

According to the same source, RIM has unfortunately declined to comment on a possible Lenovo bid.
