Kim Dotcom's New Mega Service Hits 1 Million User Mark

Kim Dotcom was the founder of Megaupload, one of the most online file locker sites until the US government decided to brand it as a portal for piracy. Almost a year after Kim Dotcom was arrested and Megaupload was taken down, the man is back with a new venture.

Simple titled Mega, the new service at first seems to be extremely similar in design and functionality to Dropbox. Mega also aims to focus on privacy for web storage and transfer of personal data. According to the website Mega "encrypts and decrypts your data transparently in your browser, on the fly". Users will be able to pay for cloud storage space and bandwidth.

Since its launch approximately a day ago, Mega servers have crashed under the strain of heavy traffic and have already broken past the 1 million user milestone. According to Kim Dotcom, his new venture has been built from the ground up to be completely on the right side of the law. Whether the authorities believe this, has yet to be seen.
