Instagram Available for Download on Android (Update)

Update: Instagram has already hit a million downloads in its first day of availability on Android, according to the statistics on Google Play.
The 18-month wait is finally over as Instagram arrives on the Android ecosystem. It can be downloaded on devices running Android 2.2 and later. However, there are a few points for Android users to take note of.
First, the Instagram for Android app takes up nearly 17MB of memory space on the device. For comparison's sake, the Facebook app requires about 7MB. Second, the ability to preview the filter before taking a photo is missing on the Android app, which is recently added to the iOS app.
Third, the Tilt Shift / Blur feature that allows you to blur out selected portions of a photo, is also missing. Fourth, Flickr integration is also absent. Fifth, you are able to share photos directly with Foursquare, while the iOS app lacks this feature.

The release of the Instagram for Android app apparently annoyed some iPhone users who went onto Twitter to vent their frustrations. They created a new Twitter account for the sole purpose of retweeting posts from like-minded individuals.
Besides Instagram, there are also a number of other photo editing and sharing apps available on Google Play for Android users. You can check out the five photography apps in our App Attack #011: Photo Fun on Android.
