Huawei Ascend D Quad to Hit Shelves in July

Huawei's first quad-core smartphone, the Ascend D Quad may hit shelves as early as July.
According to Chinese website CNMO, the Huawei Ascend D Quad will enter mass production in June and will start shipping in July. Previously, the Chinese company announced that the device will be available in China, Australia, Europe, Asia Pacific, North and South America, and the Middle East in Q2 2012.
The launch of Ascend D Quad at Mobile World Congress 2012 marked an important milestone for Huawei as it debuted its in-house K3V2 processor on the smartphone. In addition, Huawei claimed that the development of its own processors enables it to optimize the hardware and software aspects of its device to deliver superior performance and longer battery life.
Two benchmarks, AnTuTu and NenaMark v2, appeared to validate Huawei's claims that the Ascend D Quad is the world's fastest smartphone. In both benchmarks, the Huawei Ascend D Quad surpassed the upcoming quad-core smartphones, the LG Optimus 4X HD and HTC One X ,and current high end devices including the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
However, as benchmark results do not necessarily represent real life performance, do take these scores with a pinch of salt. It will be interesting to see how the Huawei Ascend D Quad fares against the upcoming quad-core flagship models such as the Samsung Galaxy S III under actual usage conditions.
Meanwhile, we've reached out to Huawei Singapore on the market availability of the Huawei Ascend D Quad. We will update with more information when it's made available to us.
