Google Schedules an Android Event in NYC on 29 October

Following Apple's invitation to a media event on 23 October, Google is holding an Android event on 29th October in New York City.
Announced via email, the Google invite simply states "the playground is open". There will also be live streaming of the event via youtube.com/android, which starts at 10 am (ET) or 10 pm (Singapore Time).
It is likely that Google will be unveiling the oft-rumored LG Nexus phone although there are rumors of multiple Nexus devices being launched. The end of October marks several significant launches such as the alleged introduction of the Apple iPad Mini and Microsoft's official launch of Windows 8 / Windows Phone 8.
