Google Acquires 3D Desktop Manager BumpTop
Another day, another acquisition by Google. And they are aggressive in the user interface department, with the acquisition of BumpTop. The purported company designs a 3D desktop interface that's usable on both Windows and Mac. With Google stepping in, it's anyone's guess where this user interface will end up. Our bet is with Google Android, on some new tablets. Maybe, even Google Chrome OS, but that's highly unlikely.
Gizmodo - 3D desktop company BumpTop, profiled here in the past, has been acquired by Google for an undisclosed sum.
The news was hinted at yesterday on the BumpTop homepage:
Today, we have a big announcement to make: we're going to be taking BumpTop in an exciting new direction, which means that BumpTop (for both Windows and Mac) will no longer be available for sale. Additionally, no updates to the products are planned.
