It seems that the counterfeits can even strike a well-known retailer. Newegg recently suffered this humiliation when customers who ordered Core i7-920 processors found themselves with fake products, from a piece of metal that masqueraded as the processor down to a manual that consists of just sheets of paper stapled together.
Tech Report - Ordered a Core i7-920 from Newegg recently? Then take a good, hard look before starting to build your new system. TechPowerUp reports that a number of customers have complained about receiving seemingly counterfeit Intel processor boxes.
