Canon Shutters the EOS 5D Mark II, Mark III to Take the Reins

Canon discontinued its EOS 5D Mark II and moved the camera to the "old products" section on the Japanese website. According to The Verge, the body is no longer available for purchase from the U.S store.

Introduced more than three years ago, the EOS 5D Mark II is deemed as one of the most influential full-frame DSLRs of all time as its ability to shoot full-HD video sparked off the video DSLR revolution. The first short film, Reverie was shot with the EOS 5D Mark II by award-winning director and photographer Vincent Laforet in less than 72 hours. It was also used to film an entire episode of House in 2010, where the director Greg Yaitanes commented that it's "the future".

Its successor, the EOS 5D Mark III offers solid upgrades in every aspect with Canon's DIGIC 5+ processor, a full-frame 22.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, high native ISO speeds of 25,600, a new 61-point AF system, and up to 6fps continuous shooting speed. Despite its price tag of S$4699, the Canon EOS 5D Mark III is a camera we can wholeheartedly recommend without hesitation.
