Apple Successfully Trademarks Design of Its Retail Stores

After two previously failed attempts, Apple has successfully filed a trademark claim with the U.S. patent office on the design of its signature minimalist retail stores. The U.S. patent office had previously rejected Apple's claim twice, stating that the design wasn't "inherently distinctive". Apple responded by filing a 122 page document arguing its case, complete with consumer surveys and photos of its store interiors.
The description of the trademark cites "a clear glass storefront surrounded by a paneled facade" and, within the store, an "oblong table with stools...set below video screens flush mounted on the back wall."
