Apple Recalls First-generation iPod Nano

The Apple iPod Nano was released around the end of 2005 and has been a popular choice for users looking for a portable, hassle free music player. Now, almost six years later, Apple is issuing a recall of the first-generation iPod Nanos due to the presence of a possible safety hazard.

Apparently, the batteries of the first-generation iPod Nano are prone to overheating, creating the potential to cause damage and harm to users. Seeing that most people would be keeping the Nano in their pockets, having a battery frazzle out would not be optimal.

The problematic batteries have been traced to one particular supplier and Apple is offering a replacement iPod Nano for all those who might be at risk. In order to determine whether you are eligible for a replacement, you can visit the replacement website and key in your first generation iPod Nano's serial number. 

Way back in 2009, Apple performed a similar swap for the first generation iPod Nanos in Korea on a smaller scale because the batteries were overheating and resulted in nasty chemical fires. It only took them a further two years to be concerned about the safety of the rest of the world and initiate a global recall.
