Adobe Flash for Android, WebOS and BlackBerry Delayed
No Adobe Flash on your mobile device just yet for everyone. Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen has mentioned that the said feature will be delivered in the second half of this year instead of the original reported first half during Mobile World Congress.
Engadget - We'd previously heard that Android, WebOS and BlackBerry versions of Flash 10.1 would be available in the first half of 2010, but Adobe's chief now places delivery to those platforms in the second half of the year. At least consolation may be found in his teasing of new Flash-enabled tablets -- most likely to be running Android or Chrome OS -- which we're told to expect to see within the same time frame.
So what does this mean for consumers? No Flash-enabled games on your mobile devices in the immediate future. The good news is, Flash Player 10.1 for Android and AIR 2.0 has just entered private beta, which could point to the reason for its delay. And no, Flash is still not going to the iPhone (at least, as far as anyone knows at this point in time). Check out the full story over here.
Update - An interview by Phone Scoop has clarified that the second half timeline was stated for hardware that comes with Adobe Flash 10.1, whilst Flash 10.1 itself will still be arriving "to first mobile platforms including Android ... before the end of the first half of 2010."
