Not that we do not have the environment in mind but the unfortunate reality is that most bundled earphones are hopelessly unpleasant to listen to, much less do the players they are married to any decent justice. Obviously, a pair of good earphones is necessary to bring out the latent audio quality of your digital media player and for that; there is the new harmon/kardon EP710 for your consideration. This is a pair of earphones that employs the latest technology from Etymotic Research and has noise-isolation capability to boot.

Comfortable Listening, Anytime

Out of the box, one would probably liken the shape of the EP710 to a mini microphone, except on a much smaller scale. The body that forms the ear buds is long and inconspicuous, much in the same unadorned fashion as many high-end in-ear earphones. Only a small harman/karman logo can be found on each ear bud to give a hint of its audio quality.

In black, the harman/kardon EP710 has a professional and sophisticated look to it. Each pair comes with two swappable ear tips (a pair of ear foams and a pair of ear flanges) that not only provide a snug fit but also noise reduction property. Granted it is terminated with a standard 3.5mm audio jack, the EP710 is rightfully compatible with most if not all portable players you might have. Moreover, with a lengthy 1.5-meter long audio cable, you should have no problem running the earphones from say your slingbag or harversack.

A shirt clip is provided but its purpose is to minimize tangles, not eliminating them completely. Finally, the EP710 also comes with a replacement filter and filter-changing tool in case the filters become clogged due to earwax buildup, which will reduce the performance of the earphones.

Clarity is Key

Audio output of the EP710 was clear and detailed even at low volume, comfortably allowing you to listen to your favorite tunes without running the risk of losing your hearing in the near future. If you like your music airy and crisp, the EP710 will not disappoint. Bass however, was found a little wanting. It could certainly fare a lot better if it was more weighty. Another good thing about the EP710 is its ability to block out ambient noise without the help of any noise-canceling circuitry. The ear foams were able to do a good job at suppressing ambient noise, perfect for users who prefer to be at one with their music in a pseudo personal audio domain.

Final Thoughts

With an expected price of less than USD$100, the harman/kardon EP710 is looking to be a good investment for anyone looking for a good pair of earphones that can deliver clear and spacious sound. It is a surefire way to give you the needed noise isolation during those high-pitched chitchat sessions. harman/kardon has really done a good with the EP710; at the very least those who decide to purchase a pair will be in for a real audio treat.

Page 1 of 1

‹ Prev

<fieldset style="display:none;"></fieldset> An In-Ear Symphony

Next ›

 // window.addEvent ('domready', function () { var container = document.getElement ('#product-review'), content = container && container.getElement ('.content'), pagination = container && container.getElement ('.pagination'), form = pagination && pagination.getElement ('form'), menu = form && form.getElement ('.page-selector'), links = { prev: pagination && pagination.getElement ('.prev a'), next: pagination && pagination.getElement ('.next a') }, page = -1, desc = 'Page {curPage} of {lastPage}' ; // Tag as Javascript-enabled pagination.addClass ('js'); menu.addEvent ('change', function (e) { var curPage = this.selectedIndex + 1, lastPage = this.length, url = this.get ('value'), pageContent = container && container.getElement ('.page') ; // Disable controls menu.set ('disabled', 'disabled').blur (); if (pageContent) pageContent.setStyle ('opacity', .5); new Request.HTML ({ 'url': url, 'method': 'get', 'link': 'cancel', 'update': content, 'onSuccess': function () { // Update controls menu.erase ('disabled'); links.prev .set ('href', menu.getChildren ('option')[(curPage > 1)? curPage - 2: curPage - 1].get ('value')) [(curPage > 1)?
