Hands-on: ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity Series & ASUS Transformer Pad 300 Series

ASUS took to the stage of this year's MWC to unveil more Android 4.0 tablets, namely the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity 700 and the Transformer Pad 300, apart from its long-awaited PadFone. Perhaps in preparation for a long line of hybrid tablet/netbook devices to come, ASUS has made the wise decision to change its confusing "Eee Pad Transformer" moniker to something simpler and easier to read, "Transformer Pad". The first to adopt the NVIDIA quad-core chip processor for its ASUS Transformer Pad Prime (formerly known as ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime), the Taiwanese company have taken the liberty to include it as part of the specs for the two newly announced products.

ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity Series

The Transformer Pad Infinity Series sets out to be the world’s first Full HD, 4G LTE/3G/Wi-Fi tablets for multimedia and HD video enthusiasts in three memory capacity memory configuration: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The main draw of the gadget is not only in its processor, but also in its 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 Full HD Super IPS+ touchscreen and SonicMaster sound technology. The tablet will be protected by the next gen Corning Gorilla Glass 2 as well as feature an 8-megapixel F2.2 camera. The 3G/4G LTE version is said to come armed with a Qualcomm dual-core 1.5GHz processor instead of the NVIDIA quad-core chip (Wi-Fi version). Of course, the Wi-Fi versions will also be available. There are no details about its release date and price yet, so keep your eyes peeled out for more news.

ASUS Transformer Pad 300

On the other hand, the ASUS Transformer Pad 300 sports a 10.1-inch WXGA (1280 X 800) LED Backlight screen - otherwise, specs differences are minimal. The device also leverages on NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 platform with 1.2GHz CPU and runs Android 4.0 OS. However, it will only be available in the 16GB configuration. Instead of an aluminum build like its higher-end Infinity 700 cousin, the device features a polycarbonate case. Likewise, there are no details about its release date and price yet.
