Dopod Unveils 5 New Wireless Enabled PDA/Smart Phones
Four PDAs and a Smartphone
With 9 existing products on the market already, Dopod has once again upped the ante with 5 brand new Wi-Fi enabled PDA/Smartphones - all within a short time span of one year since they touched down.
The new phones from Dopod boast unique strengths ranging from entertainment, portability, connectivity, productivity and even GPS Photo Navigation capabilities; all these phones were under the media's radar well before hand through rumor mills and such, except for the Dopod C800 - which took us by complete surprise.
We then did a thorough search on the interesting Dopod C800 to uncover absolutely nothing, which strengthened our deep suspicions of a Singapore-exclusive model by Dopod - released specially to ride on the wave of free nationwide wireless internet that the little island state is adopting.
On top of the new phones, Dopod also announced the availability of BlackBerry Connect technology for existing Dopod 838 Pro users by mid-November, as well as the introduction of the indispensable Sprite backup software on Dopod phones - to the delight of Dopod fans.
Dopod C800
Obviously targeted at executives and professionals looking forward to take advantage of the free wireless Internet in Singapore, the C800 sports GPRS, EDGE and hi-speed WLAN 802.11g access and is exclusive only to the Singapore market. 3G or HSDPA (3.5G), which is found on the slightly older 838 Pro, is notably absent. However, a shocking thin 17mm girth surely makes up for the lack of 3G or HSDPA connectivity. The 'slimmest GSM Quadband PDA phone with Slide-Out Qwerty Keyboard' can be acquired for S$1,288.
