From the once legendary motherboard manufacturer to have brought about the iconic BH6/BE6 series of motherboards and SoftMenu jumperless overclocking more than a decade ago, we're beginning to see some signs of a revival. Instead of banking again on the crowded Fatal1ty-endorsed product market, their latest flagship product sees the return of a different ABIT heritage - another MAX motherboard.

The AW9D-MAX is a Core 2 ready board based on Intel 975X Express chipset targeted at the gaming and enthusiast community. The AW9D-MAX is really the successor to the AW8D-MAX motherboard, which was ABIT's first and very late (only launched around April 2006) attempt at an ultimate 975X Express motherboard. Since the AW8D-MAX didn't have Core 2 support, many have waited in anticipation for the AW9D-MAX, which we now have on hand. Not only does the new AW9D-MAX fully support Intel's Core 2 processors, ABIT is already selling the point that it's Quad Core ready as well. If you've been checking up on our recent IDF Fall updates, you'll know that these processors are just around the corner.

The AW9D-MAX peripheral bundle is listed below:-

7 x SATA data cables

1 x 80-conductor Ultra ATA data cable

1 x floppy drive data cable

FireWire-400 (2 ports) and USB 2.0 (2 ports) bracket

AudioMAX HD riser card

Optical S/PDIF cable

I/O shield

Driver CD and diskettes

User's manuals and guides

<img height="212" width="500" alt="" title="The AW9D-MAX has one of the most minimalist I/O panel around with an eSATA port, PS/2, four USB 2.0 ports and two RJ45 jacks only.
