News: Seagate Barracudas.11 Might Have Firmware Problems

Hard Drive maker Seagate has taken quite a bit of flak lately from members of its own forum when instances of their 7200.11 hard drives, particularly the 1TB model have been failing due to a firmware problem. Till date, the company has not released a new firmware although you can check if your drive is affected using SeaTools.

Randoms; Save The Font, Save The World!

Dutch outfit SPRANQ creative communications Utrecht has created a new font which purpotedly saves you ink and consequently, the world. Dubbed Ecofont, the font style which looks like Dutch holey cheese (as seen above) uses approximately 20% less ink, just by introducing holes into the facetype! After using it for a couple of days, we'll have to say that it takes time getting used to, and fonts below 10pts might look as though they're been nibbled by a rat. It's that time of the year again, and with the advent of Christmas, PIKOM's PC Fair proved to be another hunting ground for computer users looking forward to great bargains on tech products as well as computer components. The highlight of this edition of the Fair would definitely be the digital camera bargains as well as really affordable memory and storage products on offers. Technology: Detroit Electric shows off their new prototypes

Why is this post all about cars? At HWM, we do have our own car nuts who love cars, and being technology lovers ourselves, the invitation to Detroit Electric's electric car introduction today was one of the greater pleasures in life when work meshes with our hobby. Hot off the Apple Store, Garage419's crew takes the Dynolicious, a USD13 application for your car and compares it with a G-Tech Pro unit, a race-proven, standard piece of equipment if you wanna go racing or drifitng, or....you get the drift. Guess who wins? It just makes me want an iPhone even more :(

Gaming: Racedriver GRID bug

Well, the game was version 1.1 on the PC, game was played using the Xbox360 controller, and honestly, my FRAPS isn't playing too well with Vista :( And no, the 1.1 trainer has not been released to the public and I don't play with trainers lol

Anyone encountered this bug before?

Why do you buy bigger hard disk drives for? Is it to meet your growing demands for storing precious digital pictures of your loved ones? Or to keep up with new applications that take up large disk space on your drives? Or...- oh hell, let's just admit it: we need bigger hard disk drives to keep our anime, TV dramas, and dirty movies. At least that's what Bill Watkins, CEO of Seagate Technology admits on a CNN interview:

"Let's face it, we're not changing the world. We're building a product that helps people buy more crap - and watch porn."

It's a brutally honest and candid opinion, so we'll give him for that. After all, what do you do with 500GB of hard drive space? Fill it up with hundreds of pictures of your pet bunny Fluffy? Now if you'll excuse me, I need to catch up on my weekly download of Wild n' Wet Weekend Getaways *cough*...
